April 30th, 2008 - GTA IV
Acquired. But not playing yet. Need to work. Need to work.....on Mario Kart.
Dear all, I may never finish inking the current book. So many mishaps along
the damn way.
April 29th, 2008 - Mario Kart Wii
This is out, like 2 days ago. I guess I'll be heading to the store later...
Eric, you playing it online already? And 2P, tell Amazon to hurry up on that
broadband adaptor. Email me your friend codes.
Update: Got it. Playing. Not doing work. Bad.
April 27th, 2008 - Pop'n Music 16: Party
Oh, Singapore finally has a new Pop'n Music arcade machine and number 16:
Party at that, which is the latest! There's one in The Star Factory in Plaza
Singapura. I'm not a Pop'n Music person but we tried it once. It was fun, I
guess...if only we could HEAR the music! The poor machine was next to a guy
playing IIDX: Gold with Echo 5 on! Damn you Echo guy!
April 25th, 2008 - Beatmania IIDX 14: Gold CS
One more month or so left before Gold comes out on the PS2. Konami has opened
the official site for it. The complete default music list is on there as well.
But there could be 3 or 4 extra songs hidden as unlocks like Distorted did.
Last Message has finally been revived for the higher resolution though!
April 24th, 2008 - Bootfighter Windom XP SP-2
For those with PCs, this is a Gundam Vs clone done up by Y.Kamada. It plays
quite well from the youtube video. And it has online multiplayer! Plus, it's
freeware! You can download the files from the main site or Mirrormoon for the
English files.
April 23rd, 2008 - Fami-card
Have you seen this? It's an entire Nintendo Famicom fitted onto a NES cart.
While you're on Kotomi's blog, check out other modded retro systems.
April 21st, 2008 - Mekuri Master
Warning: Girls are going to be offended by this. With that aside, Nigoro has
released a new game! Be a Mekuri Master! Mekuri means turn/roll up/flip in
Japanese. What do you flip? Why, schoolgirls' skirts, that's what! Use your
mad mouse skills to expose undergarments as you race down school corridors.
Keep your mekuri meter up and enter mekuri bullet time. Don't fizzle out!
April 20th, 2008 - Cut Copy / Lights & Music
I love the 80s. I love 80s music. And Melbourne band Cut Copy are completely
making me damn happy with their new single Lights & Music. It's like totally
80s, yet modern, but still 80s. Does that make any sense? Go listen to their
whole album In Ghost Colours on myspace. Tell me I'm not talking rubbish.
April 19th, 2008 - Tokyo Police Club / Elephant Shell
Tokyo Police Club's first full length LP is out next week, well, full length
by TPC standards. Your English Is Good and Tessellate sound like they are
continuing their previous short burst tracks such as Nature Of The Experiment,
Cheer It On and Citizens of Tomorrow. Coming on strong, these Canadians.
April 16th, 2008 - Semifinalists
The Semifinalists' new video Odd Situation is up and I'm waiting to hear their
upcoming album Two. Who are they? They're what happens when a bunch of film
school students in the UK get together and form a band. Adriana Alba, Chris
Steel-Nicholson and Ferry Gouw (from Indonesia no less!) create art rock vibes
such as You Said, Show The Way and DC. Wonderful sounds.
April 15th, 2008 - The King Of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match
KOF '98, the supposed most balanced of all the KOFs has gotten an Ultimate
Match update and is now in Singapore. Although running on a Taito Type X board,
the graphics are still very old school, which is fine by me. There's a new
Ultimate mode in addition to Advance and Extra that allows you to cherry pick
the best of both worlds. Oh yes and the '96 boss characters are a team now.
April 14th, 2008 - Gundam Vs Gundam
Gundam Vs Gundam is out at Jurong Entertainment Centre. Besides the classic
2 Vs 2 style arcade gameplay, it features key mobile suits from every Gundam
universe. So you can pit a Freedom Gundam Vs a Turn A Gundam! J.J. let's go!
Jurong is not that far. It's just at the other end of the island.
April 13th, 2008 - Winning Eleven 2008 Arcade Championship
Hey Eric! Your beloved Winning Eleven is out in Virtualand. Features online
e-Amusement original team saving, the same cabinet as Otomedius and a PS2
controller port! Come back to Singapore soon! Please note: I am clueless when
it comes to Winning Eleven because I only play Super Sidekicks style soccer.
Would someone be so kind as to teach me how to play?
April 11th, 2008 - Max Shanti
I've been hearing a lot of Max Shanti on 98.7FM and Lush lately. For that
matter, there's a lot more local stuff on our stations now, which is great.
I might pick their album up if I can find it. They remind me of early Suzanne
Vega and some Lisa Loeb. Damn, this whole week has been nothing but chick
music on my decks. And my characters are becoming more shojo oriented!
April 10th, 2008 - Asobi Seksu / Thursday
Sometimes, you just need some saccharin pop like Thursday from New York band
Asobi Seksu to get through an impasse. If you like, you can listen to Goodbye
and Walk On The Moon. I miss hearing them live in NYC. I doubt they'll ever
come here.
April 8th, 2008 - The World's Hardest Game
I'm not sure how accurate that title is, I mean we've already seen Jinsei
Owata No Daibouken and I Wanna Be The Guy, but at least The World's Hardest
Game is somewhat fair. It is possible to clear if you think it through and not
so much based on luck. I wasn't thinking so I only cleared to level 8.
April 7th, 2008 - You Have To Burn The Rope
This put me at ease today. It's a simple game, but so brilliant
in its own way. See if you can figure out why.
April 5th, 2008 - Gnarls Barkley / The Odd Couple
Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse are back with an album that is completely different
from 2006's St. Elsewhere. While Crazy, Smiley Faces and Who Cares? go through
quirky R&B psychedelia, The Odd Couple rings with a distinct 70s soul funk
that isn't as over the top, but it's damn tight. Listen to Run, and then this
plus the rest of the tracks before they get pulled down.
April 4th, 2008 - REM / Accelerate
After a few duds in their catalog, Michael Stipe and gang are back in better
form with their 14th album, Accelerate. Their first single, Supernatural
Superserious, has all the sounds of classic REM. Yeah, back when Bill Berry
used to be drumming for them. Those were good days.
April 3rd, 2008 - Kings Of Power 4 Billion %
Paul Robertson's latest sprite based animation is out. You can download the
full versions from his blog mirrors. Or for those who can't wait for a 300MB
file, check out part 1 and part 2 on Youtube (very low quality though). If you
don't know who Paul Robertson is, he made the animated shorts Pirate Baby's
Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006 and the wonderful Devil Eyes.
April 2nd, 2008
Hmm...I wonder what happened yesterday? Some people said the site was down or
something. Dunno. It's April though. There's never enough time. So please waste
a bit of your time by reading some things I have to do before the end of the year.
I would really appreciate it.
