BMIIDXGold May 31st, 2008 - Beatmania IIDX 14: Gold CS
A good way to end the month. Me and my Playstation 2 are now friends again.

OffroadRaptor May 30th, 2008 - Off-road Velociraptor Safari
My cousin told me about this game today and it's pretty damn fun. It reminds me of an old Sega arcade game Jambo! Safari. Drive around and knock those innocent raptors, then drag their carcasses into the export portals to score. There are other scoring methods too. See if you can find them all to rank on the leaderboards. Play it just to see polygon rendering done right in flash.

ColdplayVivaLaVida May 28th, 2008 - Coldplay / Violet Hill Video
3 more weeks till Coldplay's fourth studio album. The Violet Hill video is out. As usual, their videos don't really do much. But I do like the song very much. It's a sound that is moving them forward.

GTAIV May 26th, 2008 - Completed
Played for 7 hours straight for the last stretch. Feel like shit. But it is done. Both endings too. Ha ha. I was wrong about finishing this next year. Now to find those damn pigeons...

MainBlur May 24th, 2008 - Update
Man, there really haven't been any good tracks or albums as of late. Progress on the current book is slow. And I'm spending the in-betweens playing GTA4 and getting Singapore's rank in Space Invaders World War up. But it's now at #8! C'mon, we can break the top 5 if everybody plays and sucks points from Finland, China or Japan! drearyweary is doing a lot of work for Singapore!

SpaceInvadersWorldWar May 21st, 2008 - Space Invaders World War
This is Space Invaders online...sorta. The enemies are the same. Shooting them further away yields bigger multipliers. You can chain explosions for combos too. But the BEST part is the world ranking. You select a country you represent. After your game ends, you suck points from another. Singapore is currently at rank 32! Let's get it up to the top 10! Note: You may need to enable pop-ups.

InitialDExtremeStage May 17th, 2008 - Initial D Extreme Stage Screens
More screens from the upcoming PS3 racer. Happogahara seems to be the only extra course in the console release. I wonder whether new courses will come in the form of downloads later? Or perhaps more Super Eurobeat soundtracks? I'm just dreaming. Looks like I have a month and a half to 3 star Mario Kart (and finish the damn book) before this comes out.

Otomedius May 16th, 2008 - Otomedius G Screens
Here are some screens from the announced arcade port of Otomedius, called Otomedius G. G for Gorgeous! It really pains me that it will only be released on the Japanese Xbox 360, just like Senko No Ronde, Raiden Figthers Aces and The Idolmaster. Not just a 360, a Japanese region locked one. And how are they going to implement the of the Otomedius arcade cabinet for that matter?

GTAIVRealVsGame May 15th, 2008 - GTA IV Real Vs Game Images
Well, it had to happen. Some guy took a bunch of photos of NYC in his past trip and compared them with GTA IV's Liberty City. Yes, the game is a testament to how much the developers went into recreating the sights. But the Flickr user must have a lot of free time and is pretty far into the game. As of this writing, I have not touched it yet.

FlightOfTheConchords May 12th, 2008 - Flight Of The Conchords
A month ago, Sub-Pop released this debut album by the New Zealand comedy-folk musician duo, Flight Of The Conchords. It features most of the songs/spoofs featured on the HBO show of the same name. Very clever stuff, especially if you know the genres/songs they're spoofing. Inner City Pressure, Foux Da Fa Fa, Mutha-Uckers, Hiphopopotamus Vs. Rhymenoceros & Bowie.

WeezerRed May 10th, 2008 - Weezer Pork And Beans
Weezer's 6th album (tentatively dubbed as The Red Album) is coming at the end of June. The first single Pork And Beans is out now. You can hear it on their myspace. I like it because it sounds like a song from The Blue Album days. The other stuff from album six floating on Youtube is a little meh. But then again, The Blue Album is fucking untouchable.

BoxheadZombie May 9th, 2008 - Boxhead: The Zombie Wars
I totally forgot about this game when I saw it in March. It's a top down blast-everything-fest ala Gauntlet, but the varied and upgradeable weapons take it to a higher level. It gets very challenging when the powered-up demons appear. Be sure to use the barricades and barrels and not just pumping lead, lest you be swarmed by the hordes.

LeslieLow May 8th, 2008 - Leslie Low Downloads Next Week
As reported in the papers today, Leslie Low of The Observatory will be putting up previously unreleased material in four downloadable batches starting next week (May 15th) on his website going into the end of June. Visit it in the meantime to play around with sounds from Worm.

SNKArcadeClassics1 May 7th, 2008 - SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1
Got this today. 16 Neo Geo games on this PS2 compilation. Notable games are Baseball Stars 2, Last Resort, Neo Turf Masters, Shock Troopers, Super Sidekicks 3 and Top Hunter, all of which I played to death at some point in my past. Includes some repeats on other Neo Geo PS2 compilations such as the first games in Art of Fighting, KOF, Metal Slug, Samurai Showdown and World Heroes.

PortisheadThird May 6th, 2008 - Portishead / Third
Has it been a decade since the triphop trio of Portishead released their eponymous LP? At any rate, Third is a superb album. Describing it is pointless. If you're a fan, you already know you're heading into territories laced with strange sounds/instruments all held together by Beth's vocals and syncopated beats. Machine Gun, Magic Doors, Small, We Carry On, The Rip.

VBAAction May 5th, 2008 - Excel VBA Games
There is a guy in Japan known as Chikada who has been posting free games on his site, games that are built and run in MS Excel! You should give at least one game a try just to see how the application a lot of you are working on can be used as a game platform using Visual Basic. For the non-Japanese speaking, the genres are Shooting, Puzzle, Golf, Arcade, Block and Racing/Etc.

HardCandy May 3rd, 2008 - Madonna / Hard Candy
Madonna's latest and final album wih Warner Music was lost among the 2 mega games released this past week. I finally listened to a friend's copy and must say I am rather disappointed. It's definitely slick pop, but it reeks of the guest producers/ vocalists, so much that it's like a mix album that "features" Madonna. It's my fault for hoping this would be a Confessions Part II. Enough Timbaland.

MarioKartWii May 2nd, 2008 - Mario Kart Completed
After 2 days of playing, I am going back to drawing. Got hit too many times by blue shells, red shells, lightning bolts and starmen in rapid succession. My license file is complete though, everything has been unlocked. Yes! Man, haven't played a game for so long without stopping. Mario Kart love.
