June 29th, 2008 - STCC Complete
It is done. I am dead tired. Thank you everyone who came down and said hello.
It was wonderful meeting all of you and I'm sorry if my sketches look like
shit. I really can't draw on the spot in front of people. How to be artist
like dat, right? Anyway, it's back to work tomorrow. Full speed ahead so I
can complete the current book and begin the next one!
June 25th, 2008 - 3 Guys In A Booth At STCC
Yo. The Singapore Toy & Comic Convention is this weekend. So here's the plan.
I'm sharing a spot with Sonny Liew and Ken Foo in a booth called "3 Guys In A
Booth". Hahaha. From the list, we're F02. I'll be at the booth on the public
days of Saturday and Sunday between 3PM and 7PM if you wanna meet. There's tons
of stuff happening at the venue so come check those out if you're in town.
June 24th, 2008 - Sigur Ros / Með Suð I Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust
Or "With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly". The 5th studio album by the
great post-rock band from Iceland, Sigur Ros, is out. You can stream the
whole album from their site. It's got a lot more guitars and sounds more like
a traditional band playing it, which is quite different from their previous
out-there soundscapes.
June 22nd, 2008 - MGMT / Electric Feel Video
This is the MGMT song that I am digging a lot more than Time To Pretend. It's
the second single from Oracular Spectacular and it comes out tomorrow. It's
got such a smooth modern eighties vibe to it, don't you think? Perfect for
those 4AM dancefloor wind downs. Their official video can be seen here.
June 20th, 2008 - G'N'R Chinese Democracy Leaked Tracks?
Okay, who has any of the leaked tracks from Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy
that appeared yesterday? Before anybody yells "irrelevant", let me tell you
that this is a good sign the album is finally coming out soon. Yes, it's been
in recording since 1994 and Axl's the only member left, but I'm still waiting.
Please, no Duke Nukem Forever jokes.
June 18th, 2008 - 100% (read: One Hundred Percent)
That's right, biatches! The last 1.25% was hell because I couldn't figure
out what I was missing! Spent about 4 hours alone trying to find out. To all
you gunning for 100%, have a system or suffer like me! Now for San Andreas...
June 17th, 2008 - Ketsui DS
So Arika is serious about this shit of porting one of the best Cave shooters
to the DS. The even have an official page, with screenshots! I don't know
whether to be happy or sad because Ketsui is getting is a port, but it's on
a fucking tiny screen. How are you going to see through the bullet hell?
And I don't want a Nintendo DS at all.
June 16th, 2008 - The Music / Strength In Numbers
UK rockers The Music have released their third album Strength In Numbers.
Rob Harvey has a vocal tone that is reminscent of the higher pitched 70s rock
bands that kids today may have a hard time getting used to. Thankfully, after
his stint in rehab, his voice remains intact. Their sound has matured as well.
Compare Getaway, Freedom Fighters and Breakin' with Strength In Numbers.
June 15th, 2008 - Beatmania IIDX 15: DJ Troopers AC
What does the military have to do with being a DJ? For that matter, what does
being a DJ have anything to do with Beatmania IIDX? DJs don't do this. But it
sure is fun! The 15th installment has snuck into Singapore's Virtualand arcades. This means
we can now do Blue Rain, Darling my LUV and, yup , Dazzlin' Darlin.
DJ TROOPERS. ROLL OUT!!!
June 14th, 2008 - Weezer / The Red Album
I am trying very hard to understand this album, but I admit, I can't! Weezer
fans are supposed to "get" it. So I'm probably not a fan then. Sure, there's
Pork & Beans, but there's rap and The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, a true
mixtape of a song. It's all over the place. And it leaves me confused. Perhaps
with time, I'll understand it and then go back to fan status.
June 13th, 2008 - Metal Gear Solid 4
Got this. It's what everyone hopes
it to be. There are more cutscenes than playing, but that's to be expected. Tons of firearms and items. It's
a pity that once again, the game doesn't run in 60fps like MGS2. I can't tell if
the online portion is region locked due to the disc or your konami ID. Eric,
we need to do some experiments to see if we can meet up. Eric? Errriiiiiiic?
June 11th, 2008 - Coldplay / Viva La Vida
OK, I'm a day early, but I'm gonna pick the CD up tomorrow anyway. You can
listen to the whole album online if you have a myspace account, you know?
Tell me that Cemeteries of London doesn't sound like an updated House of the
Rising Sun? I say that in a good way. Lovers In Japan could be another arena
song with all that delay and reverb. And Death is something else altogether.
June 9th, 2008 - Lykke Li / Youth Novels
You can always count on Sweden to produce wonderful music. Let's see, ABBA,
Roxette, The Cardigans, Kent. And with a debut album like Youth Novels, Lykke
Li may soon join their ranks doing that oh-so-delicate pop vocal of hers. Have
a listen to Dance Dance Dance, Little Bit, I'm Good, I'm Gone and convince
yourself.
June 6th, 2008 - Singapore Toy And Comic Convention
Well, I guess I should do a little promotion for something I'm taking part in.
We're gonna have our first toy and comic-con at Suntec on 27-29 June. That's
like only 3 weeks away! I'm still not sure what I'll be doing at the booth or
what timeslots I'm getting, but once I do I'll let you all know. If you're in
town (I know 58.2% of you are overseas), do stop by and say hello.
June 5th, 2008 - Rambo (Arcade)
Yay! Sega will be releasing this gun shooting action game in a few months (is
there any other for Rambo?). As seen from these Impress Game Watch screens,
the cabinet appears to be the same one used for The House Of The Dead 4. Check out some Magicbox in-game screenshots. Leave it to Sega
to still believe in the lightgun infra-red gun arcade game.
June 3rd, 2008 - Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
After deliberating/procrastinating for about 4 years, I finally bought one of
these. Yes, it's an old game. And pretty hard to find now. There are 2 games
on it, but the one I want is Street Fighter III: Third Strike, supposedly the
deepest of the lot. Jit, if you ever want to try it, I have it now.
June 2nd, 2008 - Radiohead / The Best Of (DVD)
This is out. The CD is pointless if you're a supporter all these years, not
even the special edition. No bonus tracks at all, meaning EMI is dry in terms
of their contracted catalog with the band. The DVD, however, is a different
story altogether. Featuring 21 tracks that span videos before and after the
7 Television Commercials release, yes Creep and Pyramid Song are now on DVD!
