Sep 30th, 2008 - Loti (Volume 1)
Alrighty. See that kid on the extreme left under "Latest"? Clicking on him will normally
take you to the current day's strip, but at noon today, it'll take you to page one.
Hovering your mouse over the strip will tell you when that strip came out.
If you see a Next button, then there's still more to click.
The browse function in the comic may prove useful.
Sep 29th, 2008 - A New Series, A New Difficulty
I'll be starting a new series tomorrow. In order to level up my newbie comic
skills, I have decided to do a daily strip. Yup. A DAILY. The first chapter of
15 strips will be released tomorrow at noon, Singapore time. After that, a new
4-panel strip will appear at noon EVERY DAY for as long as I can keep this up.
Or until I realize my sense of humor was lacking to begin with.
Sep 27th, 2008 - The King Of Fighters XII Update
The AM show in Japan is over and SNK Playmore's The King Of Fighters XII can't
come soon enough. Their official page has been updated to include the trailer,
some screenshots and the April 2009 release date. (So far away!) The Taito
Type X2 board that it runs on is definitely proving capable of handling the
hand drawn 2D sprites as seen in this AM show footage.
Sep 25th, 2008 - Radiohead Reckoner Remixes
Radiohead has another remix project page. This time for Reckoner, my favorite
tune on In Rainbows. You can download the parts of the song for remix and
upload yours on the same page. There are tons of them already. Some are crap.
Some are great. You be the judge. James Holden has one up there. And the one
by The Deadly Syndrome is really nice.
Sep 24th, 2008 - Rockman 9
12 years after the last Rockman (Megaman in the US) appeared on the Playstation,
Rockman 9 takes the series back to the days of Rockman 2, which is my favorite.
This is not a remake, it is a true retro product. It even has the option
to turn off graphical flicker and support download content. Expect it to be
a hard game. Available on PSN and XBox Live, but WiiWare is the way to go.
Sep 23rd, 2008 - Ladyhawke
Those Australians at Modular Records are having a good 2008 with releases from
Cut Copy, The Presets and now Ladyhawke. She's from New Zealand
though. And why do all of them have a certain 80s sound to them? Have the Aussies
gone retro like us island folk? Maybe it's our emigrants and students over there.
Hear what I mean in Back Of The Van, Dusk Till Dawn and Paris Is Burning.
Sep 22nd, 2008 - TV On The Radio / Dear Science
The third studio album of the post-punk revival NY outfit TV On The Radio is
out and their genre spanning sound continues to evolve. Current tracks on
heavy rotation are Dancing Choose, Golden Age, Family Tree, and my favorite
two DLZ and Love Dog.
Sep 19th, 2008 - The Coral / Singles Collection
I like The Coral. You've probably heard their songs before even though you
might not know them because they are so low-key, which makes the release of
The Singles Collection perfect if you don't have their first 5 albums. In The Morning,
Jacqueline, Who's Gonna Find Me and Put The Sun Back are all here, including
the new Being Somebody Else, plus demos and rarities on the 2nd disc.
Sep 17th, 2008 - Playstation Home Beta!
Oh wow! I have been selected for the Playstation Home Beta trial test! I spent
an hour putting furniture in my virtual apartment. I walked to the theater and
watched trailers of games. There was a marketplace where I got a cowboy hat and
a summer house for free! There is an arcade game area too. Everything
is streamed live. There were only 7 people wandering around, but I hope to see more.
Sep 16th, 2008 - About Experiments
It is important to try new things. We're gonna have a new series in 2 weeks.
No, it's not in color. But that sky blue sure is attractive. Yup. It's a comic
unlike anything I've tried before. The Tourist series needs a break. It gets
100 spam comments a day now, which is a good and bad thing. Anyway, check back
on September 30th at noon (Singapore time) to see what it is about.
Sep 15th, 2008 - Metallica / Death Magnetic
Woah. Metallica has finally brought back something good. After the dud that
was St. Anger, Death Magnetic is Metallica as close to what they can be now.
Even the logo is back! Bassist Robert Trujillo seems to be fitting in nicely too.
Don't worry, there are heavier tracks than first single The Day That Never Comes.
And there's The Unforgiven III!
Sep 11th, 2008 - Obscure: The Aftermath
2 player co-op survival horror is back. This game isn't new. It came out more
than half a year ago. Obscure: The Aftermath follows the high school students
from the first game to university where more monsters appear... or some dumb
story like that. Who cares? I have it now. And it is the PS2 version, meaning
it is the way it should be played, on a Dualshock 2 controller. Jit, any time you're ready...
Sep 9th, 2008 - UPDATE: まもるクン は 呪われて しまった!
Crap. It is already here! Zone X has it. But it's in Jurong Point and Downtown
East. That's like at the opposite ends of the the damn island. They are doing
this just to toy with me! Yup. They are.
Sep 8th, 2008 - Metronomy / Nights Out
Joseph Mount's (aka Metronomy) second album is out today. While Radio Ladio,
Trick Or Treatz, Holiday, You Could Easily Have Me, Heartbreaker and My Heart
Rate Rapid have been released as singles already, they are now in the correct
sequence on one LP. Ha ha. Now what we need is a compilation of his remixes
over the last 2 years, like the one of the Gorillaz!.
Sep 6th, 2008 - Friendly Fires
Friendly Fires have been releasing a steady singles/EP march over the past
two years with Photobooth, On Board and Paris. With the release of their self-titled
debut album, they're finally complete. A blend of electro, synth pop and even
disco, yet not so The Rapture, time to Jump In The Pool.
Sep 5th, 2008 - Death Smiles X360 Confirmed
The Japanese XBox 360 continues to torment me with another major shooter
confirmed for this system, and a fantastic Cave shooter at that. I once said
that I'd only get a 360 if the number of Japan-only games reaches 10. Well,
my list is that much closer now. See this official page. Says it will be out
in early 2009.
Sep 4th, 2008 - まもるクン は 呪われて しまった!
Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta! by G.Rev and Gulti is rolling out into
arcades. This is a 1P Naomi vertical shooter featuring cutesy characters (aren't they all now?). They have movies on their download page, including wallpapers and an instruction manual.
A Dreamcast port is unlikely though since all Naomi games are now not on GD-Rom.
Sep 3rd, 2008 - Glass Candy / B/E/A/T/B/O/X
It took me more than half a year to listen to Glass Candy's third LP, B/E/A/T/B/O/X.
Their previous sound was more akin to the dance-electro-punk of Crystal Castles,
but they're now like Blondie drenched in Italo-disco, which I am liking very
much. Listen at their myspace. Their Kraftwerk cover of Computer Love is very
cool and even better live.
Sep 2nd, 2008 - The Automatic / This Is A Fix
What's that coming over the hill? Why, it's The Automatic's sophomore album.
The Monster boys are back with slicker chops from Fall Out Boy producer,
Butch Walker. First single Steve McQueen didn't do anything for me, but don't
judge this album from that alone. There's still evidence of their debut sound
in tracks like Accessories, Make The Mistakes and Sleepwalking.
