August 28th, 2009 - Loti (Vol 1) Now At Books Kinokuniya
Yesterday, a friend asked us
where he could purchase
another copy of Loti 1
now that the SGTCC is over
and it dawned on us that
we don't have any in the stores!
Ha ha ha.
We are such amateurs!
But don't worry, we just
stocked Books Kinokuniya (main store)
with some Loti goodness.
They should be out by the weekend.
So if you missed us at the convention,
here's your chance to get yourselves
some Loti.
August 21st, 2009 - Arcade News
With STGCC over,
it's time to check out
what has been happening
in the local arcade.
And boy have I missed
a lot! Apparently,
the system board Y2 powered
KoF 2002 UM (above)
snuck into Virtualand in
the past month.
Why is it in Chinese?
And who is New Channel?
Is this a bootleg?
Ah, who cares?!
We have Brick People!
This is a mega fun game.
You use blocks to stack up
so that the lemming-like people
can climb your blocks to
eat the fruits. You have
to play it!
The number of bricks provided
seemed little compared to
what I see in the Japanese ads.
I guess you can't have lots of bricks
otherwise it would be too easy.
Or maybe Virtualand is hiding some...
But this has to take the cake.
Yes, look at that logo.
It says P.O.D.
as in Gundam POD!!!!
It's here!
I'd like to believe somebody
read this blog and decided
to bring in the PODs just
to please me.
However, that is probably
not the case.
Chinaman, we can link up with you
in Hong Kong now!!!
August 19th, 2009 - Exhibits Updated
A new gallery has been uploaded
to the Exhibits section.
It collects all the posters
made for the various conventions
we've attended thus far.
Hopefully, there will be
more to come.
Also, Books Kinokuniya should be
restocked with more copies
of TRT3 starting this Friday.
August 17th, 2009 - Things I Learnt From STGCC'09
Hello, Everyone!
I am still recovering from
the aftermath of STGCC'09,
but I thought I'd quickly post
this before I go back to sleep.
So without further ado...
Troy Chin Presents:
Things I Learnt From STGCC'09
Recession or not,
people will still come out for
toys, games and comics.
Nintendo still has the big booth
up in front (probably coz Maxsoft still
bundles the Wii with "free games".
There are always interesting new toys
like this gadget that you poke your
finger in to mess around with a digital head.
Star Wars will always be represented
in huge numbers, be it in this form
or this form.
Capsule toy machines still attract me.
I really wanted that Shy Guy and Boo.
Blythe dolls still creep me out a bit.
Oh and being an exhibitor has its privileges,
like securing this Grimlock for H.D.
at a discounted price. (You owe me, dude.)
This dog is NOT a toy.
It is a REAL dog and it's damn cute.
So cute that it attracted people away
from my booth.
Dreary Weary Vs Dog, Dog wins.
But I engaged the services of
Rios from Army Of Two to disperse
said crowd only to have him
turn his gun on me.
Ah and there's always cosplay!
I thought she was kinda cute.
I have weird tastes.
This Majin Buu was cute too.
But all were destroyed when
Strike Freedom Gundam appeared.
(I was too far from it so I snapped
the screenshot.)
Guess what this is?
It's a gift from a fan from Bangkok!
It still blows my mind that
I received this. Thank you!
And what about this?!
A T-shirt from another fan!
If you look carefully, those are
doggies on the back!
This is so awesome!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
That's Sonny Liew and the Gilamon folks!
They were so busy sketching the whole time,
I could only snap this when the booths
were coming down at the end.
Chin Yew and Ming, two really cool cats
from Malaysia. I am so fortunate to meet them!
Looks like I have quite a read ahead
of me with this partial list of stuff
acquired at the con...after I wake up, that is.
So I hope everyone had a good time
this weekend.
Thank you again for coming and
buying my books.
Heck, thank you for even stopping by
to talk to me and my friends (if your timing was right).
This whole experience has been
overwhelming...in a good way!
OK, off to bed.
Forgive me if I haven't replied
to your emails, I will.
See you all next year!
August 13th, 2009 - STGCC'09 Starts!
Ha ha!
Here we are!
We turned this
into this
and are selling these
Shout out to all the
media cats and early birds
who came this evening and said hi!
Now you've seen the truth!
Troy Chin is actually
a ROBOT!!!!!!!
August 9th, 2009 - STGCC'09 Details
Happy 9th of August, everyone!
And Happy Birthday, Singapore!
5 more days to STGCC'09
Oh yah, Dreary Weary
will be at booth A35.
I can't believe I've neglected
to mention that!
This proves I'm still
such an amateur!
I'd sure like to meet
you if you've seen my
little doodles and,
if anything, I'd like
to personally thank you
for the support thus far.
If you'd like to talk,
we could do that too.
You may also want to
purchase the print edition
of Loti Volume 1.
It's brand new and
smells nice.
I'll be selling that
and my other printed works
at the following
prices for STGCC:
Loti (Volume 1) - S$15
The Resident Tourist (Part 3) - S$15
The Resident Tourist (Part 2) - S$10
The Resident Tourist (Part 1) - S$10
The convention runs from
11AM to 9PM daily but to be
absolutely sure we'll meet,
please take note of the following
times I'll be there:
Friday: 12 noon to 9PM
Saturday: 11AM to 9PM
Sunday: 3PM to 8PM
There should be someone
manning the booth at any
one time, but it may
be my assistants or friends.
You can say hi to them too
if you recognize them as
characters in the Tourist series.
Alright, see you all in 5 days!
(4 if you're coming for preview night!)
August 5th, 2009 - School Is In!
Wow, it's only a week
before STGCC'09.
Can you believe it?
More importantly, the
Loti 1 hardcopies have arrived
and they are really nice!
We're really happy with
how the book turned out and
are proud to launch it
at the convention.
Please check back in the
next few days to find out
convention info and special
pricing details.
