November 26th, 2009 - Freedom Love Forever
Alas, I've gotten my hands
on Ken Foo's Freedom Love Forever!
And I've been spending my
days away from the studio
going through this tome of his.
Freedom Love Forever is a
hardcover, 300+ page, full color book
that collects all of Ken Foo's
works over the past 3 years.
It includes comics, short stories
and even illustrated prose.
If you've been following his site
since the Lair of the Broken Down days,
you will be familiar with
most of the material here.
For those of you who just signed on,
well, your only chance to read
those stories now is to buy this book.
While the various stories contained
can be viewed as standalone,
there is an underlying story
of Lola, Okis, Rozulle and Chronos
(told in 4 parts) that binds them all.
Yell Bloody Murder.
The Bird, Pig, Bear trilogy.
Little Mechanic Daniel.
What seemed absurd to some then
will make more sense now when
taken together as a whole.
In between these are shorter nuggets like
Nobody Wants To Be Your Friend
and Robot Nutcrack (both of which
I really liked) and the longer
Midnight Monkey Blues, which I
haven't seen before and
thoroughly enjoyed.
If you're a fan of Ken Foo's stuff,
you already know what you're getting.
If you aren't one yet, then allow this
book to suck you into Ken's world
of tangents, not-so-random randomness,
and Freedom Love Forever.
Bazook style.
Love arts.
Peace out. (not actual Bazook phrase)
November 23rd, 2009 - Tourist 1 & 2 Out Of Print
Amazed.
We are amazed.
Yes, we are.
As of today, the Adrian Teo editions
of The Resident Tourist (Parts 1 & 2)
are out of print.
We just filled the last order for them.
Those copies you see
on the various store shelves
around the island are
the last copies available.
We do not intend to reprint them
any time soon because funds
are limited and needed for
future projects.
So thank you, Adrian.
You don't have to hang
those pig's heads on our
doors anymore. He he.
Amazed.
We are amazed.
Yes, we are.
November 21st, 2009 - Arcade News
Check this out.
Taito's Music Gun Gun is in Singapore!
Yet another new arcade game
has slipped in undetected
and placed in Jurong Point
of all places.
It's a fun game where
you use a gun to shoot
enemies to the rhythm
of the songs.
(So it's a Gun-Rhythm game?)
Notable songs include
Don't Say Lazy from K-On!
Unfortunately, the staff
at Jurong's Zone X have
failed to understand it is
a music game and left
the volume controls on
default (soft), making it
rather unplayable.
What was I doing in Jurong
in the first place?
Well, that's another story
altogether.
November 15th, 2009 - On Limited Editions
It was either this
or New Super Mario Bros. Wii,
which I'll probably get
anyway.
But what's interesting to me
is that popular things these days
tend to have these special editions
that come straight out
of a Marketing 101 course.
Price tiering is really
quite irritating.
If you get the normal version
and later realize you're a
bigger fan than you thought
you were, the limited editions
would probably have been sold out.
If you bought the limited one,
you always never truly
appreciate the extras that
came with it.
I mean seriously, does anybody
really care about the 10+ page
artbooks that come with it
after a day?
And worse of all are those
games, like Modern Warfare 2,
that have not one, but TWO
special editions.
I succumbed and bought the
mid-ranged version, deciding
that a bundled Call of Duty 1
is better than a cheapo NVG
I would never wear in any
of my daily activities.
As you can see, I have
become a sucker too.
Perhaps this is something
I should explore for my
future books...
the limited edition.
What am I saying?
My print runs are so small now,
even the normal books
are limited edition!
So Quest, better come over
and play MW2 before the PS3 dies again.
The console is back with a
3 month warranty, meaning it
will die in 3 months and 1 day.
November 10th, 2009 - Unopened Games Again
This is what happens
when you draw comics
all the time and stop
noticing whether it is
night or day.
Methinks I should
get a Xbox360 soon.
I wonder if Microsoft
would be kind enough to
sponsor me one if
I made Shufen play a
Xbox 360 in one of
the strips...
(Microsoft: Who the hell
is Troy Chin?!!
Loti?! What is that?!
Some kind of bread?!!
We don't deal with
people who are not famous!
Next!)
November 5th, 2009 - 2 Years!!
That's right, kids!
Drearyweary.com turns two!
Seeing how we never
thought we would last
more than a year into
its ephemeral life,
this is quite
a shock.
Can we make it through
the third year?
That's a scary thought!
As scary as girls are!
