Casuarina Curry

Casuarina Curry

You may have already read about the roti prata shop at Jalan Kayu in another post and it seems many locals agree that it isn't as good as its perceived reputation. So where does one go to get your roti prata fix? Well, if you're a northerner like I am, Casuarina Curry is one such place.

Located at the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road and Upper Thomson Road, the row of shophouses where Casuarina Curry is at has a similar feel to those at Jalan Kayu, but it's less frantic and a little more contemporary. You can have prata prepared in almost any known combination from savory garlic cheese to the dessert variety like banana chocolate.

Besides prata, it also serves other Indian cuisine like murtabak, thosai and briyani. Not accounting for individual tastes, there are probably many other such stores even around the area that serve good prata these days. However, I do like going to Casuarina Curry once in a while for the location. Do note that parking can be a problem here around meal times, especially over the weekends. That's never an issue for me coz I always cycle there. The wait staff can also be hit and miss. But as long as you're not in a hurry, it's still worth a visit.
